3 Important Steps To Ant Eradication

Evan Patterson

Have you recently woken up to discover that your kitchen is full of ants? Are they getting everywhere and driving you insane in the process? Dealing with an ant infestation can be a daunting experience. Just when you might think that the situation is under control, the ants come back in even greater numbers. While ensuring that all containers of food are tightly sealed can help, an ant colony is likely to remain in your kitchen if they're able to get water from the sink and can find even a few crumbs from a sandwich. Dealing with ants doesn't have to be impossible, however. Some things that you should do include:

Call in a professional: The first step to any good ant control plan is to find out exactly what type of ants that you're dealing with. Different species of ants behave differently so finding out which type is in your home is the first step to eradication. Knowing what species is invading your home will provide a lot of useful information, such as preferred nesting spots, nesting habits, and favorite food(s). For instance, you may have heard that if you just manage to kill the queen ant then the whole colony will die. But some ant species can have multiple queens in a single colony and they might not all be in the same area. Killing off just one or two of the queens for these types of colonies will do little to nothing to impact the swarms entering your home.

Use poisoned bait: The ants that you see in your home are only a fraction of the colony as a whole. The ant colony survives by sending out a few workers to collect food for the entire nest. This food is then shared with the whole colony, including any queens. As a result, one of the best methods for ant control and eradication is the use of poisoned baits. Your exterminator can help you to determine what type of bait the ants are going to be most likely to eat and what poison will kill the ants as quickly as possible without killing the worker ants before they can return to the nest.

Residual poisons: Residual poisons, such as can be found in a can of insecticide that you get at the local grocery or hardware store, can also be helpful in your quest for ant control. Although many insecticides should never be used near where food is stored, your exterminator may have an option that can be used in and around your cabinets without having to worry about whether you and your family are safe. Never spray a store-bought insecticide around food; always get professional help.

Exploring The Benefits Of Hiring Pest Control Experts

Hi there, my name is Taylor Stone. Ant problems do not just go away on their own. I thought that keeping my home clean would eliminate ants from the premises after they stopped finding food lying about. Boy was I wrong about that. The ants kept streaming inside the home in tiny lines that caused me great distress. The ants went into my pantry and even tried to go into the fridge. I eventually had to call in pest control experts to remove these critters from the vicinity. I was astonished at how quickly and efficiently the pest control experts worked to resolve this trying problem. They got more done in a few weeks than I could accomplish in a year's time. I hope to share the benefits of hiring a pest control expert immediately upon noticing a problem. Thank you.
